NAMD Comments on Proposed Medicaid Fiscal Accountability Rule

On February 1, NAMD sent a letter to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) commenting on the proposed Medicaid Fiscal Accountability Rule (MFAR).

The proposed Medicaid Fiscal Accountability Rule (MFAR) would have broad impacts on state Medicaid programs by creating new federal oversight of virtually all state arrangements to finance the Medicaid state share, new limits on the use of supplemental payments, and increased reporting requirements. Although NAMD supports transparency and accountability in the Medicaid program, MFAR may create significant operational challenges for states.
