NAMD Requests More Engaged Partnership Between the Department of Health and Human Services and State Medicaid Programs on Provider Relief Funds

On September 15, 2020, NAMD sent a letter to U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar requesting a more robust partnership with states on any future actions to bring relief to Medicaid providers.

HHS has made payments from the Provider Relief Fund to help Medicaid and CHIP providers who have been financially impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. In this letter, NAMD requested that HHS actively partner with state Medicaid programs to help develop allocation methodologies for these funds. States have strong relationships with their provider communities and are well-positioned to assist federal policymakers in developing targeted, actionable, and effective provider relief policies
