Maintaining Strategic Vision

This episode of the Leadership Forward podcast considers how the public health emergency and its unwinding demands staff multitask and morph with changing circumstances.  Two Medicaid leaders  discuss  how  maintaining strategic vision helps counter staff overwhelm and provide direction through change.

The process of developing a strategic vision brings team members and key stakeholders together to connect day-to-day work to a larger mission and set of goals. During the public health emergency and its unwinding, maintaining purpose and direction proved critical. Navigating multiple, competing priorities can easily deplete staff time, resources and morale – maintaining strategic vision is an effective antidote.

In this episode of the Leadership Forward Podcast, NAMD spoke with LaQuandra Nesbitt, MD, MPH, director of the District of Columbia Department of Health, and Suzanne Bierman, JD, MPH, administrator of the Division of Health Care Financing and Policy for the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services about strategies to maintain strategic vision and purpose.
