NAMD and APHSA Call on Congress to Provide States with Adequate Flexibility, Time, and Resources Following the Public Health Emergency
On March 14, NAMD and the American Public Human Services Association (APHSA) called on Congress to provide states with adequate flexibility, time, and resources to smoothly transition out of the federal COVID-19 public health emergency (PHE).
On March 14, NAMD and the American Public Human Services Association (APHSA) called on Congress to provide states with adequate flexibility, time, and resources to smoothly transition out of the federal COVID-19 public health emergency (PHE). Specifically, Congress should extend flexibilities around SNAP issuance methods and application/reporting requirements and expand SNAP non-merit staffing flexibilities to support states in aligning SNAP and Medicaid renewals following the end of the PHE. Congress should also provide states with adequate planning time and sufficient financial resources during the unwinding period.
