NAMD Submits Comments on Congressional Request for Information on Dually Eligible Members
NAMD highlights strategies to improve systems of care for dually eligible members.
On January 13, NAMD submitted comments on a request for information on duals policy from Senators Cassidy, Carper, Scott, Warner, Cornyn, and Menendez. In our response, we highlight:
- Shortcomings of the current system of care for dual eligibles and learnings from existing duals integration models
- The importance of providing Medicaid agencies with sufficient resources to tackle duals integration, including strategies to build Medicare expertise at Medicaid agencies
- The importance of aligning financial incentives so that Medicaid agencies can share in savings that are generated through duals integration models
- The diversity of the dually eligible population and the impacts of geography on duals integration strategies
