In June 2025, NAMD submitted comments to the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) on the development of its 2026 National Drug Control Strategy. NAMD recommends to prioritize Medicaid’s role in addressing substance use disorder (SUD) by supporting the SUD and mental health workforce, enhancing cross-system collaboration, expanding access to treatment during reentry from incarceration, and streamlining federal processes for innovation.
