On March 27, 2026, NAMD submitted comments in response to CMS’ Request for Information (RFI) on Comprehensive Regulations to Uncover Suspicious Healthcare (CRUSH).
Medicaid agencies share the federal government’s strong commitment to safeguarding Medicaid funds and preventing fraud, waste, and abuse (FWA). As primary administrators of the program, states and territories are on the front lines of program integrity efforts and play a key role in identifying emerging risks and ensuring effective oversight. NAMD highlights opportunities for CMS to strengthen program integrity efforts, including improving data sharing and analytics, expanding training and technical assistance, enhancing coordination across programs, and providing clearer guidance and operational support to states. NAMD also emphasizes the importance of a strong federal-state-territory partnership and continued collaboration to support effective and accountable Medicaid program integrity efforts.
