NAMD and the National Association of State Mental Health Program Directors (NASMHPD) submitted joint comments to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) on regulations governing the confidentiality of substance use disorder health information (42 CFR Part 2). Among other recommendations, the letter urges SAMHSA to align the privacy requirements governing alcohol and drug abuse patient records with those requirements governing all other health information to ensure individuals with substance use disorders benefit from advances in care delivery.
