NAMD Congratulates HHS Secretary Tom Price on Confirmation

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
February 15, 2017

Washington, DC – On behalf of the nation’s Medicaid Directors, NAMD congratulates Rep. Tom Price on his confirmation as Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services.

We look forward to working with Secretary Price as he leads the Department in this important time for the Medicaid program and the wider health care system. Medicaid Directors are responsible for operationalizing the nation’s largest health care safety-net program, while at the same time driving comprehensive payment and delivery system reforms that improve care and contain costs. As such, NAMD and our members can serve as an expert resource on the Medicaid program and the state-led innovations under way to transform health care towards a system that rewards value over volume. These innovations are addressing a host of pressing issues, including the ongoing opioid epidemic sweeping the nation.

Medicaid Directors are pleased to offer the Association as a resource going forward. Our members look forward to partnering with HHS, including with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and other HHS agencies, to support the drive for continued improvement and sustainability in the Medicaid program.
