Message From The Board

At the threshold of Health Care Reform, we feel that now—more than ever—it is critical to establish a strong, coordinated voice for the Medicaid program in national policy discussion. To ensure that Medicaid directors are prepared to take on the unprecedented challenges and opportunities presented by federal health care reform and its historic expansion of the program, we believe that NAMD will provide that focused attention on Medicaid issues, a stronger voice for Medicaid Directors, and will effectively meet the needs of its member states now and in the future. NAMD will focus on the Medicaid perspective first and foremost, while working with long standing partners that include the National Governors Association (NGA), the Federal government, the American Public Human Services Association (APHSA), as well as new partners such as the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC), the Medicaid and CHIP Payment Advisory Commission (MACPAC).

We are excited to launch this new organization and embark upon the challenges that lay ahead. We will represent the non-partisan interests of state Medicaid programs to Congress and the administration; we will provide analysis and monitoring of the Federal Budget and Legislation; and we will provide members with timely and accurate information on Medicaid issues.

We look forward to working with you, our members, alumni and supporters as we continue to improve the lives of the individuals we jointly serve.

Sincerely,

NAMD Board of Directors
